Therefore, Lord, for the sake of Christ Jesus who was crucified on the cross at Calvary, let my tears on all issues of my life matter before you and attract your compassion tonight. I have laboured so hard to move forward. But the twigs and ropes of wickedness keep holding me back. O God, for the sake of your only begotten Son, let my tears matter before you tonight. Strangers harvest that which belongs to me; My efforts, my time, my energy are wasted right before me. My days ebb away without restraint. O father of the Blessed Lord Jesus, let my tears matter before you tonight. O God, it is written: ‘thy will be done on earth, as it is done in heaven’. I am the earth on whom thy will must be done. That which stands between me and the fulfilment of your will for this earth called —-(insert your name), let it be crushed straightway. Let my tears matter before you tonight, I cry O God. Cause my tears in prayer to matter before you. There is no where and no one to run to but you, O God. Therefore, let my tears of several days, months, years and hours matter before you tonight, Amen.

HIDE, RUN, FLEE, BE STILL, REVERENTLY FEAR AND SOLEMNLY PRAY (PART 2)

HIDE, RUN, FLEE, BE STILL, REVERENTLY FEAR AND SOLEMNLY PRAY
(PART 2)

The Holy Scripture in Ecclesiastes 3:1 informs us that there is a time allotted to everything and of course, there is a purpose for everything in God and by God. However, not all things are designed by God to happen to man.

Therefore, such things require wisdom and immediate obedience in dealing with them. As such times and in such situations where God is not the orchestrator of any such things, to stay back in the battle or in the situation in order to fight it through by means of effective and/or fervent prayers will only lead to disaster and misery for such a disobedient man. How?

In 1 Kings chapter 17, after Elijah’s proclamation, God asked him to go and hide himself by the brook. Was he not a very powerful prophet? Could he not pray his way through to victory over Ahab and Jezebel? Yes, certainly Elijah could.

But although Elijah was a very powerful prophet, he was not the all-powerful One. Neither was he the Almighty. Ask yourself: what is God asking you to hide from? The reason He is asking you to cut off that friendship is best known to Him. Why He is requesting you to change that accommodation can only be explained best by Him.

THE MAD FELLOW AND HIS EPILEPTIC FRIEND

THE MESSAGE NOW
Vol. 3, No. 43 – Monday, 22nd October, 2018
(2 Cor.10:1-14)
THE MAD FELLOW AND HIS EPILEPTIC FRIEND

It was a story told many years ago about two very close friends. Their friendship as well as their closeness was such an uncommon one. None of the two ever took on himself anything of his. All things between the two were simply shared in common and in friendly fellowship.
What an awesome friendship you would say! But one unforgettable day, an event of a serious melodrama took place. These two friends were on a journey. Suddenly, the epileptic friend began his seizure moments. He soon fell down on the ground foaming so badly from his mouth.
On seeing his friend, the mad fellow bragged saying ‘how lucky am I? I am certainly not like this most disgraceful friend of mine. The mad fellow quickly moved onto the other side of the road in the avoidance of his most shameful friend.

After a while, the epileptic friend regained consciousness. Feeling so depressed, he lamented to God in silence. ‘God, why am I not like this other fellow?’ After a short walk, there was another sudden twist of events. The mad fellow suddenly tore his own clothes and began with a most ridiculous display of insanity in full glare of every member of the public.
Like his friend, the epileptic quickly retorted and said ‘God, I thank you because I am not like this insane fellow’.

See how men compare themselves not knowing the ordeals of A or B. They forget that every man has his own form of aberration. One aberration may be so neatly packaged that it thrives under the guise of the beautiful cloth being put on. The other aberration is obvious to all and can be easily commented about yet another aberration is like a malignant disease in the mind covered up by a painful quiet life.

Another story was told about two unrelated men in friendship, family affinity or colleagues. What was a form of commonality between these two was the fact that they lived in the same building: one downstairs and the other upstairs. The man downstairs was always full of pomp and pageantry. But the man living upstairs, a pastor was often in sorrow, lack and penury.

HIDE, RUN, FLEE, BE STILL, REVERENTLY FEAR AND SOLEMNLY PRAY (PART 1)

Vol. 3, No. 42 – Monday, 15th October, 2018

(Is.26:20, 1 Kings.17:1-3, 1 Sam.17:22, 40, 48, 51, 1 Thes.4:3, 2 Tim.2:22, 1 Cor.6:8, Ps.46:10)
HIDE, RUN, FLEE, BE STILL, REVERENTLY FEAR AND SOLEMNLY PRAY
(PART 1)

Brave men in the affairs of warfare will agree that their victories in wars did not just come because of their strength or brilliance, it was more because of the special skill found in wisdom.

It is the skill of being able to know when is the right time to retreat and hide from battle, to run into the battle, not just to hide but actually flee away from battle, when to be still and do the most needful of prayer in humble adoration to Jehovah.

I read the story below from somewhere. Read carefully as I believe the story will give us a picture of knowing when to hide, run, flee, be still and reverently fear and pray.

During World War II, a US marine lost touch with his comrades. Alone in the jungle, he could hear enemy soldiers coming in his direction. Scrambling for cover, he found his way up a high ridge to several small caves in the rock. Although safe for the moment, he realized that once the enemy soldiers looking for him swept up the ridge, they would quickly search all the caves and he would be killed.

As he waited, he prayed, ‘Lord if it be Your will, please protect me. Whatever Your will though, I love You and trust You. Amen’. After praying, he lay quietly listening to the enemy beginning to draw close.

FOR GOODNESS’ SAKE! WHY DID MY WIFE DO THIS?

THE MESSAGE NOW
Vol. 3, No. 41 – Monday, 8th October, 2018

(Phil.4:10-20, 1 Cor.9:11-15, Luke 8:2-3)
FOR GOODNESS’ SAKE! WHY DID MY WIFE DO THIS?

It was less than a month after our marriage, my wife’s pastor at the time came visiting. After praying with us for about two hours or slightly less, the pastor was on his way. My wife packed virtually every raw food item in the house for him as a mark of appreciation.

She equally gave him about 3000 Naira leaving us with about 2000 Naira in the house to manage. For goodness’ sake! Did not this woman understand that I married her whilst being without my first job? How do we manage now? Doesn’t this woman remember that all I had in my account as at the day of our marriage was just twenty thousand Naira? Where is the next going to come from?

Many of such-like questions raced through my mind. Perhaps considering my countenance and quiet exclamation, my wife simply said quietly: ‘don’t worry …. Looking back today, I thank God very greatly that my wife took that step that day. Why?

Unknown to both of us, that pastor had come to visit us in Mowe (a densely populated, slum-town located in one of the western provinces of Nigeria) having walked all the way from Shagamu. Sadly, that pastor was going to walk back to Shagamu after praying with us that day.

Ah! my God! What an odd experience some Men of God go through. It was a story I read somewhere. The story said, whilst the pastor was busy preaching his heart out on the pulpit to the church congregation, his daughter was in the church-gents weeping with her mother, the pastor’s wife busy consoling her. As she wept, this pastor’s daughter said: “when I grow up, I will never marry a pastor’.

A church member who came close-by to use the same church-gents heard the pastor’s daughter’s bitter sobbing and complaining and decided to find out what the problem was. The girl’s mother that is the pastor’s wife wouldn’t open up. But the girl did. ‘We have not eaten since yesterday’. She said.

MAN’S OFFERINGS OF BLESSINGS TO GOD BEGETS RECIPROCAL BLESSINGS IN RETURN

THE MESSAGE NOW
Vol. 3, No. 39 – Monday, 2nd October, 2018

( 1 Chron.16:1-43, 2 Sam.6:19-20)
MAN’S OFFERINGS OF BLESSINGS TO GOD BEGETS RECIPROCAL BLESSINGS IN RETURN

A common saying by a tribe in one of the nations of Africa conclude that at all times when gratitude is expressed for the least done to one, a greater gesture will certainly be the reciprocation.

The fact remains that being thankful will keep one’s tank of blessings full. For nothing is better than expressed gratitude. King David, in the two texts that we have just read celebrated the Almighty God in a great way and in a grand style.

His celebration of the Holy One of Israel is without doubt an expression of appreciation not only of the worthiness of the Most High but also of the works of His arm through His marvellous works already wrought, being wrought and yet to be wrought.

There is a solemn and subtle lesson to be learnt from King David’s action in the two texts of today. His first wife’s name was Michal the daughter of former King Saul. Understand that although King David at this time had other wives; Nonetheless, Michal was his first love who was wickedly taken away from him by King Saul.

Understand also that this Michal was instrumental to David’s escape when Michal’s own father sent men to kill him (1 Sam.19:11-17). Undersand still that Michal the first wife of King David had five children for another man but not King David who was her first husband (1 Sam.18:27-28, 2 Sam.21:8).Continue reading
