(2 Kings 3:15-17, Habakkuk 1:5, 3:17-18)
DO NOT AWAIT TO SEE SIGNS AS MARK OF YOUR ANSWERED PRAYERS
The many experiences of life never cease to raise myriads of baffling questions. When life’s questions are posed to us for which we are able to provide answers, the end-result is always most relieving.
The perfect opposite is the turn of events when baffling questions leave without the prospect or possibility of answers. The aftermath is an end-result which leaves us in utter disgust, despondency and bewilderedness.
But was it really those baffling questions that inform the misery they leave behind? In my opinion, under a careful soul-searching consideration, I find that the questions of life which end up leaving us in disarray and bewilderedness leaves us with such egregious(outstandingly bad;shocking) pain because of our humanity.
Humanity because, no one wants to experience struggling, delay, loss, lack and/or suffering of any kind. The natural tendency of all humanity is to enjoy pleasures and have all things so rosy.
Ancient sound truth (which still holds true even through to present times( agrees with the unspurious notion that ‘life is not a bed of roses’. So when the prophet Habakkuk questions the Almighty in verses 2-4 and verses 12-17 of chapter 1, it is simply because the prophet was wholly being human.
Thank God; the Almighty is never devoid of resplendent answers to human and humanity’s question. Like the prophet Habakkuk, are questions already racing through your minds dearly beloved?
For instance, you have fasted and prayed many prayers. When then will I see at least a sign pointing in the direction of my prospective miracle? Understand dearly beloved that with God, seeing signs so as to bask in the euphoria of an impending miracle is absolutely unnecessary.
By the way, why should I celebrate on the mere fact that I have had a positive dream? Are dreams realities? It is true as I have written somewhere that one’s actions or inactions about dreams will determine their reality. However, basking in the euphoria of a mere sign like dream can be most troubling sometimes.
Agriculturists in dark Africa and indeed the world over look up in high expectation when the sky turns dark moments after their planting season. To them, dark skies is a sign of rain soon coming. True as that may often turn out, the further truth is that not every dark sky eventually dissolves into rain.
Indeed, the language and nature of faith differs exponentially from such human/agriculturists’ attitude. With God (and perfectly unlike the expecting agriculturists), winds need not blow. Rains need not fall before one’s testimony of overflowing streams of blessing begin (2 Kings 3:17).
This is why I contend that prayer and fasting are the first few steps of the rungs of the ladder leading up to the attainment of desired breakthroughs.
However, there is yet what the Bible calls patient faith.
Patient faith is a spiritual attitude: an unnatural disposition to God which informs Him that ‘even if my miracle does not come, nevertheless, I will continue to serve the Lord’. This is the spiritual attitude of the prophet Habakkuk which of course brought him to eternal reckoning and everlasting remembrance.
This spiritual attitude of the prophet Habakkuk in Habakkuk chapter 3 from verses 17-18 reads as follows:
’17 Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labour of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls–
18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation’.
When there exists no sign or prospect of a sign that there is a miracle in sight. When the circumstances of life pull in the polar direction from the reality of a miracle. Even in such gloomy season of life, the best attitude is the attitude of willful joy and gratitude. The best attitude is to live in hopeful expectation consciously realizing that it is impossible for God to fail or lie and to be fully persuaded that one’s day of joy will eventually break.
IN THE END, MAN RETAINS THE RIGHT TO QUESTION THE ALMIGHTY AND HE WILL OBTAIN ANSWERS SO LONG AS HIS QUESTIONS ARE EXERCISED IN HUMILITY AND FAITHFUL PATIENCE. BUT WHAT IF MAN BERATES AND RAISES HIS QUESTIONS TO THE ALMIGHTY WITH AN ATTITUDE WHICH INFORMS HIM THAT HE IS UNFAITHFUL AND UNKIND? UNDERSTAND THAT THE ALMIGHTY WILL YET ANSWER SUCH MAN BY MANIFESTING TO THAT MAN THE MIRACLES THAT THE MAN CRAVES FOR. BUT WITH WHAT FACE AND HEART WILL SUCH MAN APPROACH THE THRONE OF GRATITUDE AFTER THE ALMIGHTY PROVES HIMSELF FAITHFUL AS HE ALWAYS IS?
