SUNSHINE AT MIDNIGHT: A LIGHT FOR DIRECTION

Scattered leaves and bended trees,
Fleeing birds and vegetations hiding their heads and faces,
Fear-laden hearts and disappearing creeping fellows
All heading for the depth of the ancient seas, shacks and shelters, holes and hollows.
It is all because of you,
Because of you O towering storm of life.
What is fair about you O towering waves;
For the poor of little hope cannot find succor in nature’s gentle breeze.
But your violent hands mock their already broken hearts to founder and fester
In deeper and in more hopeless hopelessness.
Unfair is life’ unfair and unjust, for the equals are made unequal by your unfair travail.
But hear Life’s excuse! I am as fair as fair;
For do not the rich and the strong also share in my equal fair justice?
For whether it be gold or goads, to all I share them alike.
Doesn’t it call for a serious wonder that a man on the course of fulfilling divine agenda for the kingdom of God has to be violently confronted by such storm of life as Euroclydon?
Consider the words of verse 20 of our text: ‘and when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away’.The great Apostle’s experience was a perfect case of perfect hopelessness. But the power of unrelenting hope prevailed in that state of hopelessness. For in the midst of that dark storm en route their journey across a tide-throng sea, the Lord God made the sun beam its light for direction onto them.
Consider the words of verse 27: ‘but when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country’.
Why was it midnight? Couldn’t it have been any other time? The truth is, much as the sons of men believe that God can spring solution at the eleventh hour, even so He can shine the light for direction at the twelfth hour when every hope is finally gone.
There are certainly memorable lessons to be learnt from the account in our text:
The unfair treatment of life is not personal or targeted at a given people or person; it is usually an equal allocation to all.
The records of the Almighty written by Him about an individual can be delayed but can never be altered. Know that God will surely arise some day to defend His interest and His integrity.
There is a set time of expiry for every problem.
Nothing in the world can extend a time given by God for a miracle to happen except sin by the individual in question.
God is in the midst of every storm that His son or daughter is going through. This is the more reason why no storm can swallow up His own.
The longer the enemy delays the happening of a miracle, the sweeter that miracle will turn out to be.
Every storm is permitted because there is a need for it.
The storm allowed by God will eventually play out in your interest.
When going through any storm, keep these words as your driving motto: ‘and this time shall surely pass away’. Storms of life do not last forever; they only try to prove so. Remember that the remaining days for the expiry of any storm you are passing through are not as many as the days already expended going through that storm. Remember this: Paul the Apostle eventually made it to Rome despite Euroclydon, Cnidus and the shelter of Clauda. You too will make it.
